Buckingham keeps clipping along

There aren’t many unbeaten teams left in Central Virginia, but Buckingham County, after ending another team’s unbeaten run, is one of them.

The Knights topped Manassas Park Friday night 20-17, with Maurice Taylor scoring the winning touchdown to lift Buckingham (6-0) to the win.

Taylor finished with 193 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries, bringing his season total to 900 yards in just six games. Quarterback Tarian Ayers also had a big night with 114 yards on 7-for-13 passing, including a touchdown toss to Antonn Briley, who had 48 yards through the air. Caleb White had four catches for 34 yards.

As usual, Michael Layman led Buckingham’s defensive effort, piling up 12.5 tackles against Manassas Park.

The Knights get a week off, finally, before facing rival Cumberland on the road.
