Basketball Roundup 2.4.17: Monroe boys, STAB boys pick up wins

William Monroe’s boys basketball team knocked off Skyline Saturday on senior night, with a balanced offensive effort in a 69-63 victory.

Malique Shackelford and Jalen Anderson each had 15 points while Kam’ron McCain scored 14 points and dished out eight assists. Anthony Terry had 12 points and Charlie Richards chipped in eight points.

Monroe (18-3) plays its final regular season game at Central Woodstock Tuesday.

 

St. Anne’s-Belfield boys 73, Hampton Roads Academy 57

St. Anne’s-Belfield boys basketball stepped back out of Prep League play Saturday and the Saints rolled, beating Hampton Roads Academy 73-57.

Matthew Palumbo poured in 21 points including three 3-pointers to go with two assists and two steals. Jayden Nixon filled up the stat sheet with 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Dalton Taylor had 11 points and two steals while Isaiah Kilby-Sharp had 11 points and four rebounds.

 

St. Anne’s-Belfield girls 67, Cape Henry Collegiate 30

St. Anne’s-Belfield’s girls basketball team rolled 67-30 over Cape Henry Saturday with Bri Tinsley scoring 21 points and swiping five steals for the Saints.

Sierra Smith posted a huge double double with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Vanessa Woodfolk scored 10 points while Jayla Davis had nine. Jada Bennett chipped in four steals.

 

Skyline girls basketball 48, William Monroe 43

The William Monroe girls basketball team beat Skyline 48-43 Saturday afternoon.

Sam Brunelle scored 19 points, pulled down seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. Dajour Strother scored 14 points and five rebounds. Kristin Manz scored six points and grabbed five assists.
