Basketball roundup 1.20.18: Alexander powers Madison to a win, Shelton ignites Louisa

Madison County’s boys basketball team is starting to pick up some steam, winning four of its last five games including last night’s 75-60 victory over Luray.

 

Kobi Alexander got the Mountaineers there, exploding for a career high 42 points.

 

The Mountaineers host East Rockingham Monday.

 

Shelton pushes Louisa past Orange

 

Louisa County’s boys basketball team held off rival Orange County Friday night 78-70 with a powerful performance by Chris Shelton powering the Lions.

 

Shelton scored 28 points for Louisa in the win.

 

Kaeshaun Braxton and Jordan Shook each scored 22 points for the Hornets.

 

The Hornets will try and bounce back against Spotsylvania Saturday while the Lions, now on a four-game win streak, take on Charlottesville at CHS Tuesday.

 

Albemarle boys hold off Monticello

 

Thanks in part to a double double from Na’il Arnold, Albemarle’s boys basketball team beat Monticello Friday night 60-48.

 

Arnold scored 13 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in the victory, while Cartier Key’s 16 points led the Patriots in scoring. Key also dished out six assists while J’Quan Anderson had 14 points, nine rebounds and five assists.

 

The Patriots, now 14-0, host Harrisonburg Monday while the Mustangs will look to bounce back when they host Fluvanna Tuesday.
