Charlottesville’s boys basketball team used a balanced offensive effort to knock off Orange County Friday. Patrick Ronayne scored 13 while aylen Hudson finished with 12 and Khalil Vest notched 11. Immanuel Wells scored 10 and Sam Neale and Isaiah Washington each scored eight points.

Orange County’s Zach Williby led the Hornets with 13.

 

Fluvanna girls pick up big win

Fluvanna County’s girls basketball team edged Western Albemarle 38-32 Tuesday night to further upend the Jefferson District race, where seemingly anyone can beat anyone on any given night.

The Flucos got 18 points and six rebounds from Niya Brown to lead the effort in a defensive struggle while Jules Shepherd and Nevaeh Ivory scored six points each.

Eleri Hayden led the Warriors with 16. Western couldn’t completely claw back out of a 12-4 hole they dug in the first quarter. Fluvanna had to hold on tight to a narrow lead most of the game after building a 16-13 advantage at the break.

 

Albemarle boys drop Louisa

Albemarle’s boys basketball team bounced back from its first Jefferson District loss at the hands of Western Albemarle Friday to defeat Louisa County 69-54 Tuesday.

Austin Katstra poured in 31 points, Na’il Arnold scored 11 and Jake Hahn had 15 rebounds for the Patriots.

 

Covenant boys edge Fuqua

Thanks to some last second heroics from senior Will Moore on the road, Covenant’s boys basketball team edge Fuqua Tuesday night 52-50. Moore hit a 3-pointer with four seconds to play to put the Eagles ahead.

Sam Walkup had 14 for the Eagles in the win.

 

Monroe girls edge Warren

Monroe’s girls basketball team battled past Warren County with a 36-34 victory thanks to a game-winning offensive board and stick back by Dajour Strother.

Sam Brunelle finished with 24 points and five rebounds while Strother notched seven points and grabbed six boards.

 

William Monroe boys beat Warren County

William Monroe’s boys recovered from a loss to Madison County last week to knock off Warren County Tuesday night 68-42, pushing the Dragons to a 12-2 record on the year.

Anthony Terry led the way with 20 points and eight rebounds while Malique Shackelford barely missed a double double with 16 points and nine rebounds. Charlie Richards had 17 points for the Dragons while Kam’ron McCain dished out 14 assists.

 

Other Scores

Buckingham girls basketball beat Central Lunenburg 48-36. Buckingham boys beat Central Lunenburg 74-68, Antonio Chambers leads Knights with 21.

Goochland beat Randolph-Henry 54-45 with Jack Twombly notching another double double with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Darius Harwood scored 10 points for the Bulldogs.

Madison County’s girls fell 47-28 to Clarke.
