Albemarle splits Saturday matches

Albemarle may have been banged up, but the Patriots still put together an admirable performance Saturday, splitting with Patrick Henry and Loudoun Valley at home.

They did it without the services of Hannah Lawson, who suffered an ankle injury early on Saturday and Stephanie Strauss, who was out with the flu. Lawson leads the Patriots in kills while Strauss is a consistent blocking threat up front.

Without those two in the fold, the Patriots won 3-1 over Patrick Henry with Megan Napolitano’s career-high 21 kills leading the way. Abby Hendrix had 29 assists while Meg Carpenter and Sarah Terlesky combined for 24 service points and five aces.

Against Loudoun Valley the Patriots fell in a sweep, with Napolitano knocking down 10 kills and Hendrix dishing out 17 assists.
