Albemarle girls soccer blows past Orange

It may have been 688 days since Albemarle’s girls soccer team has played a game, but the Patriots came out of the gate on fire with an 8-0 victory over Orange County in both teams’ season opener Monday night.

Junior Katie Manley led the offense with a hat trick while Courtney Hughlett scored a goal and notched two assists. Emily Ward, Natalie Wolfe, Madeline St. Amand and Devon Higginbottom rounded out the goal scoring with one each and senior Kora Jillions notched a pair of assists.

The Patriots will host Monticello Thursday night while Orange looks to bounce back the same night on the road against Louisa County.
