Albemarle girls lacrosse falls to Mills Godwin on the road

Albemarle’s girls lacrosse team faced a tall task on the road Monday night against Mills Godwin, a squad that advanced to the Region 5B semifinals a year ago.

The Patriots came up a bit short in the see-saw game, falling 15-13 despite a valiant effort.

Anna Murray put together a stat-sheet filling game, scoring three goals, dishing out two assists, forcing four turnovers and coming up with a pair of deflections. Kelsey Myers scored a team-high five goals while Ella Doffelmyer notched a hat trick. Leigh Young and Bridget Pinnata scored a goal each to round out the scoring.

Ashley Cramer finished with two assists while Myers and Miranda Hirts each had an assist. Morgan Coleman finished with seven saves on the night.

Albemarle faces a quick turnaround and another tough opponent, as the Patriots head to Monticello Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
