Albemarle boys soccer drops Robert E. Lee

Albemarle’s boys soccer team got rolling Tuesday against Robert E. Lee High and didn’t slow down beating the Lancers 5-2 in the first round of Region 5A North play.

 

The win pushes the Patriots (13-4-2) into the region quarterfinals where they’ll face Briar Woods in Thursday.

 

Daniel Starr scored twice in the first half to lead the Patriots offensively, while Andrew Weber notched a goal and an assist. Michael Vaughn and Jeff Collins each also had goals while Franco Duran and Mohamed Abakar dished out assists.

 

Junior Thomas Leckrone came up with seven saves in net while reserve keeper Jake Hahn came off the bench to make one save.
